Turning 18 isn't a big deal. Okay, yes you can now legally do more but it's not like the Hollywood narrative where you suddenly wake up on your birthday and you're a whole new person. But what it did make me reflect on was the things that I have learned over the years.
People leave - realationships fail - it's normal. I'm not going to pretend to have an elaborate explanation on why this happens, but I guess it's just a product of growing and changing as a person.
School is tough - whether its the workload or the people it's not easy but once you have finished with education you never have to restrict your learning to a building and strict curriculum again.
You change in many ways - You will find yourself loving things that you once hated. Wanting to change your entire wardrobe (but probably not having any money to do so). Suddenly losing interest in things and not being able to find your mojo. Just like relationships, stuff happens because we grow its no biggie we just have to adapt and either try to rally back in love or find something new.
People will drive you up the wall, people will hate you for no reason. Sometimes everything gets a bit too much. You just need to try and relax. Leave your headphones at home and go for a walk. Leave the internet alone even for a day. Go and be a tourist in your own hometown. Take some time out for yourself.
Insecurities will always be there, it isn't always a matter of getting a surgeon to change something you don't like especially if there is an underlying condition. If it's something changeable like weight, workout (LucyWyndhamRead on youtube is great), Go to your GP if you are struggling with it whether it's physically losing the weight or any mental issues. But always remember the models we see are photoshopped (even some Instagram pics) things are manipulated online and in the media to seem 'perfect' and 'ideal'.
Do what makes YOU happy and not what makes others happy. It doesn't matter whether they're related to you or not, everyone has their own lives and no one can live it for them. And they can't live it for you. If you want to do something - do it. Don't let people stop you especially if they don't want to listen to reason.
Life is weird. No handbook can show you what to do. Just follow your instincts and hope for the best 'cause shit happens - you can't control that - so do things that you can control, the things that you really enjoy.
